David B. Owens is a partner with Gess, Gess & Scanlon. From its New Jersey and New York offices, the firm specializes in insurance defense, construction design / defect and all aspects of civil litigation in addition to a substantial commercial and real estate practice.

In his 20 years as a trial attorney, David has served as counsel to some of the nation’s largest insurers, as well as corporate clients ranging from Brooklyn Union Gas to Laidlaw Transit/Greyhound Bus Lines. His previous experience also includes representing Prudential Property & Casualty Insurance Company as a litigator in its New York staff counsel office. With an emphasis on resolving complex litigation matters, David has earned a reputation for obtaining favorable outcomes in difficult cases tried through verdict.

David’s main focus is defending personal injury claims, and his record of success in this area encompasses wrongful death and catastrophic personal injury cases. His other areas of expertise include premises liability, product liability and property damage.
